Billy goes to Bristol At lunchtime on Saturday off we all set, Mom, me and of course Bonnie - we were visiting Mom's relations in Bristol. When we arrived I was shattered, but I did manage a big fuss with Rita and Gwyn, Mom’s relatives. The rest of Saturday was pretty uneventful for me and Bonnie. Mom was catching up on all the gossip – boy, can she talk! Sunday was the best day, we went to Bob and Wendy's house; they have my mate Monty, a golden retriever. I was unsure of Monty the first time I met him, all that hair, I couldn't make out what he was! Anyway me and him are great pals, sharing toys etc; Bonnie is a bit scared of him though. His garden is great, there is a fish pond - well I didn't know, thought it was paddling pool, I was just about to take the plunge, I had already dipped a paw, when Mom bawled NO! I don't know what all the fuss was about, why do fish have to have their own pond? I had to settle for lying in the shade, although I did try to paddle in the water bowl, a chap needs to cool his feet, but again I got bawled at! Eventually the adults realised we hadn't had our dinners, they were drinking far too much wine, so we all said our goodbyes and went back to Rita's house where Bonnie and I had our dinners. A good weekend was had by all. I like Monty, he's not bad for a hairy dog! Strange breed though, not sleek and shiny like me, and of course not as good looking! We are all back home now - very boring, but I am a bit tired, all that socialising, need to catch up on my sleep. Ta ta for now, Billy Meek (Dinan Billy)
Billy goes to the Forest Last week was really exciting for me; I went home to the Forest of Dean. I should explain that although I am a townie now my heart will always be in the Forest. Whenever we visit Tony and Jayne I’m now allowed with Bonnie to go into the house instead of having to go into the kennels. I have great fun because my mate Metz (from my racing days) lives as a much loved pet in the house along with Mabel! We all had a fab walk in the forest; Mabel and I spotted loads of squirrels, Bonnie didn't seem to know what all the excitement was about. Metz as usual dragged his feet, just wanting to get back to his sofa! On the evening all the humans went out for a meal leaving us four dogs in the house. Well what fun, Tony left the radio on for us - we soon had that blaring! We were banned from the living room, but not the kitchen. With a bit of help Mabel managed to swipe all the dog treats for us, most enjoyable (the humans didn't even notice). Sadly there wasn't any toys to play with so we had to make do with cat-spotting out of the main kitchen window. When the humans returned they all seemed really pleased with us (fools!). I spent the rest of the evening lying at Tony's feet - this appeared to annoy Mom. We were put to bed separately - Mom, me and Bonnie in the living room, Metz and Mabel on their own sofas…why can’t I have a sofa? The next day was great; Mom and Jayne went out leaving us all to our own devices. What every dog owner dreads happened - THE GREAT ESCAPE! What fun we had, me, Metz and Mabel all running loose up the drive cat and pheasant spotting. Mind you I thought Tony was going to have a seizure, he called miss goody two shoes (Bonnie) and she went straight to him, not us three - we took some catching I can tell you! We were all put back in the house, all three of us had a good telling off. We looked sad and pretended to be sorry - Tony is a diamond geezer really, don't want to upset him. Mabel still couldn't help herself though, while Metz and I went into sleep mode Mabel stole one of Moms slippers - it still hasn't been found, even us lads don't know where she has put it! Naughty, but a right giggle. Mom wanted to know how much pocket money Mabel gets, but Tony said she was already in deficit, poor Mabes! Well that's all for now, Love Billy Meek |
