For those of you who have already got a greyhound, please, above all, enjoy  the time you spend with your dog. Give him/her a good life - you can bet they will have worked for it.

They are the most remarkably brave dogs, subject to an almost secondary status and probably the most abused breed in the world.

If you are reading this with a view to homing a greyhound from the trust or another agency, please consider all the hard work involved with having a dog as a pet before you act.

At Thistle Grove Greyhound Trust our return rate is very low as we take care to match dogs and potential owners carefully. However, inevitably dogs do sometimes come back. Some are returned for the most frivolous of reasons and it is painful to see a dog ripped from a home through no fault of it's own.

We endeavour to place greyhounds in loving stable homes, where they can actually enjoy the rest of their lives, not just until the novelty wears off.

Greyhounds from the trust are not on loan - we reserve the right to track a dog’s fate, but they become your dog and your responsibility.

If you can’t handle that, get a hamster!
